How To Remove The Rules That Are Limiting Your Abundance




We live with many rules about how we should feel. When we believe we have to feel a certain way given our circumstances, we are enslaved to our emotions. If we are stuck in traffic we think we should feel angry and anxious, so we do. If a loved one is sick we think we should feel worried and afraid. If it’s cloudy outside, we think we have to feel bad.

Now you may find that some of your reactions seem almost pre-programmed, beyond your control, and without a doubt you’re right. For our entire lives we’ve been told what to do and how to live, what’s more important and what to avoid, from family, caregivers, teachers, television, the list goes on and on. It is easy to mistake all these incoming signals as rules and guidelines for how to live. They are not. The moment you allow yourself to break free from outside dictates and embrace your own standards for happiness, you are free.

Due to being programmed to react in predictable, customary ways, we don’t experience the independence to choose our feelings and our mindset. Our unconscious mind makes decisions to protect us. Remember when you were a child and needed an adult’s hand to cross the street? As you became older, you didn’t need an adult’s hand to safely make your way. Now, how limited would you be if you still felt you needed to hold hands with an adult in order to get across the street?

Those beliefs kept us safe when we were young, but we also learned those beliefs weren’t needed when we got older. Receiving abundance and being happy work the same way. You need not submit to anxiety and sleepless nights when your finances are strained. You can be happy by changing your beliefs about how you should react. However, we do not grow out of all of our limiting beliefs even if they are unnecessary. Bringing abundance into our lives is a matter of ridding ourselves of negative fears and emotions that set us back. We limit our own ability to have abundance because we were programmed to believe that it isn’t right for us to have it or want it. Once we’ve removed the gates in our minds and allowed ourselves to believe we deserve to be happy, we will attract happiness.

Energy techniques can help us change the programmed rules that limit our abundance and happiness.

Gratitude List

An easy and fun way to shift your energy out of limiting beliefs and into powerful positive manifestations is by writing gratitude lists. Remember, what you think about you bring about, and if you’re focused on the problems or potential pitfalls of a situation that’s all you’ll find. So instead of spending another moment bemoaning the deficiencies in your relationship (with a person, a great job, money, etc.) instead make a list of all the things that are going right, things that you are thankful for. Look around. Did your spouse take out the garbage last night? Be grateful and put it on the list. Did your teenager call when they said they would and come home on time? Put it on your list. By listing all the things in your life that are going right you automatically shift your energy to the positive. You’ll start to feel better and have a brighter outlook.

Emotional Freedom Technique

Another quick way to refocus your energy is by practicing the Emotional Freedom Technique, or EFT. EFT is a method of energy healing that combines light tapping on traditional acupuncture energy points with verbal affirmations of self love and acceptance. The tapping stimulates our meridians, allowing energy that may be blocked to move freely throughout our system. Blocked energy can cause all types of unease, from doubt and worry all the way to illness. Our natural balanced state of ease occurs when our energy is allowed to flow freely with no restrictions, and EFT helps us restore this natural balance.

EFT chips away at the limiting beliefs and exposes the underlying abundance and joy. Underneath we find our true self, which is happy, joyful, healthy, and loving. Freed from limiting beliefs, our true self enjoys prosperity.

Gratitude lists and EFT are two ways to work with your energy to remove programmed limitations and attract abundance to your life.
